And I skipped another day yesterday. I'm about to run off to shower and go to bed tonight, too. I still have lingering drainage and cough from whatever-this-is that I came down with, and it's getting old. I've been trying to get to bed at a decent hour to get 8+ hours of sleep at night, both to help me be more functional during the day and to help my body kick this.

Our printer died a few weeks ago. Just plain refused to turn on, no matter what we did. Yes, we checked the power cord. Multiple times. Even unplugged it for a while and then plugged it back in to see if that would reset anything. Googling indicated that either the power supply, motherboard, or print head were likely dead. Determining which of these is the problem would require disassembling the entire printer (which I could do with instructions I found on the internet), but I have no reliable way to then test the various pieces to determine which was the problem, nor do I know how difficult it would be to get replacement parts. Since the printer is about 5 1/2 years old, I have opted for the "easy" route of just buying a new one. Tonight, I did research, and ended up picking the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. It was fairly highly ranked in the most recent Consumer Reports, and got decent reviews online. The highest ranked Canon was reviled in online reviews for chugging ink, and the second-highest ranked (a Lexmark) had no easily findable online reviews. We've had a Canon for the last 5 years, but I'd always had HPs before that. Guess I'll find out if HP is still worthwhile now. :)

Idle observation: 5 years ago when I bought our Canon, I had to go out of my way and spend extra money to get an all-in-one with fax capability. It was pretty uncommon. Now that I no longer have a phone line and thus have no need for fax capability, all the machines seem to have it. I'd have to try pretty hard to get one without, and the printers without fax capability also seem to be lacking in other areas, too. *sigh*
